SIA Gold Medal 2015
Mr. Alan Choe
Mr. Alan Choe’s professional career has been closely linked to public service. He was the Housing and Development Board's first architect-planner and founder of the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA).
At URA, he created opportunities for architects and developers to participate in competitions to bid for URA tender sites, resulting in the construction of office towers, mixed-use buildings, hotels and condominiums that would otherwise not have been possible through private land sales.
He undertook comprehensive urban renewal and redevelopment of Singapore’s central areas and played a key role in the master planning of the Old Raffles Institution, Kallang Sports Complex and Sentosa.
For his contribution to education, Mr. Choe received the Service to Education Award from the Ministry of education in 1996. He was also the recipient of numerous awards, including four National Day awards.
